Our Mission, Values, Purpose

Youthclusive Inc. is a non-profit community based youth-founded and youth-lead performing arts group that is committed to making performing arts free and accessible to all youth in the Santa Barbara community, regardless of differences. This includes, but is not limited to, differences in race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, physical ability, mental ability, learning differences, religion, language, immigration status, age, family structure, body size and shape, and cultural background. By embracing and celebrating these differences, Youthclusive Inc. ensures that every young person has the opportunity to participate in and benefit from the performing arts.

Youthclusive Inc. will present shows that highlight and celebrate the rich diversity within the Santa Barbara community. By featuring stories and performances that reflect a wide range of experiences and backgrounds, Youthclusive Inc. aims to foster understanding and appreciation for the unique qualities each individual brings. The organization is dedicated to ensuring that every young person has the chance to shine on stage, regardless of their differences. These shows are directed, produced, and choreographed by local youth, providing them with valuable leadership and creative opportunities.

Moreover, Youthclusive Inc. stands out by not charging participants any fees, making the performing arts truly accessible to all. This commitment eliminates financial barriers that often prevent young people from engaging in creative activities. By providing free access to workshops, rehearsals, and performances, Youthclusive Inc. ensures that every youth, regardless of their socioeconomic status, can participate fully and enjoy the transformative power of the performing arts.

At Youthclusive, we understand that training youth for the performing arts is far more expansive than on-the-stage and in-front-of-the-camera. We value performers and we recognize that for every performer there are at least a hundred other professionals making that performer’s appearance possible.

We believe that training youth to be casting directors, writers, choreographers, producers, stage managers, directors, costume designers, media managers, script editors, lighting techs, front and back house staff, production assistants, videographers, and so much more, empowers them with creative leadership skills that will enhance whatever educational or career path they may follow.

We believe that the symbiotic relationship between youth performers and youth production teams at Youthclusive is foundational in fostering a comprehensive and inclusive creative ecosystem. By involving young individuals in every aspect of production, from the stage to the control room, we cultivate a rich environment where creativity, leadership, and teamwork are not just taught, but lived experiences. This holistic approach ensures that our participants gain valuable skills and perspectives that prepare them for diverse futures, both within and beyond the arts.
