Why give?

  • We believe that everyone can flourish when everyone is included. It’s why our mission is centered around providing performing arts experiences and education to promote participation, appreciation, and understanding of the arts for everyone in our community, not just some.

  • We believe that the symbiotic relationship between youth performers and youth production teams is foundational in fostering a comprehensive and inclusive creative ecosystem. By involving young individuals in every aspect of production, from the stage to the control room, we cultivate a rich environment where creativity, leadership, and teamwork are not just taught, but lived experiences. This holistic approach ensures that our participants gain valuable skills and perspectives that prepare them for diverse futures, both within and beyond the arts.

  • We believe that training youth to be casting directors, writers, choreographers, producers, stage managers, directors, costume designers, media managers, script editors, lighting techs, front and back house staff, production assistants, videographers, and so much more, empowers them with creative leadership skills that will enhance whatever educational or career path they may follow.

  • Our shows highlight and celebrate the rich diversity within the Santa Barbara community. By featuring stories and performances that reflect a wide range of experiences and backgrounds, we foster understanding and appreciation for the unique qualities each individual brings.

  • We believe high quality performing arts must be available to all local youth for free, making the performing arts truly accessible to all. This commitment eliminates financial barriers that often prevent young people from engaging in creative activities. By providing free access to workshops, rehearsals, and performances, we ensure that every youth, regardless of their socioeconomic status, can participate fully and enjoy the transformative power of the performing arts.

  • We believe that youth theatre and performing arts groups are "behind the curve" and as we note professional companies, film, television, and Broadway, have begun embracing diversity and inclusion in casting that must start from the ground up. No longer must a little girl wait to see an on Ariel in The Little Mermaid "who looks like her", she should be that Ariel on her community stage.
